Ayurvedic Hair Formulas and Shampoo

Bhringraj, Eclipta alba, is the main herb in Ayurvedic hair products but it has many other uses as well. Since there are many causes of hair loss, everything from hormonal imbalances to toxic side effects of medical treatments and shock, finding the right product for each person is important. This said, the oil is most often used to reverse hair loss and graying whereas internal use focuses on liver regeneration, more or less the way dandelion is used in traditional European tonics.

Bhringaraj Extract, 2 oz.

In the Ayurvedic medical system, bhringaraj is regarded as a rasayana or longevity herb. Though many people use this herb to stimulate hair growth and avoid graying, there are other anti-aging benefits associated with bhringaraj. The herb helps to reduce excess kapha and vata. In Siddha Medicine, the leaves are used with ghee to disgorge phlegm lodged in the tongue and tonsils, one of the preparations for serious rejuvenation. The leaf extract is a powerful liver tonic but mild enough for children to take for biliousness associated with intestinal parasites. As those familiar with Ayurvedic medicine would expect, a liver herb will tend to have a positive influence on the eyes and skin as well as the liver and blood.

30 drops in a small amount of water, 2 to 3 times daily, or as directed by your health care provider. Shake well before using.

Bhringaraj leaf is the main ingredient in all Ayurvedic hair formulas. It aids both the scalp and hair. This formula supports the liver's work of removing toxins and may be more suitable for those whose hair issues stem from exposure to toxins (as opposed to male pattern baldness which is more of an adrenal issue.)
